A. Hello, I am Deokyong Kim, the chief manager of the Guardians Aviation Maintenance Team. ‎Guardians Aviation is specialized in pilot training / certificate programs in Korea as well as aviation parts management service.

Q. What made you adopt a new inventory management program?

Currently, Guardians Aviation relies solely on BoxHero to manage all the aircraft parts for repair, and the number of parts exceeds well over 17,000. With such a large number of inventories, working on spreadsheets or handwriting had been a very frustrating job.

We worked on Excel to manage inventory and performed a monthly inventory audit. The audit itself took longer than a week, which I found very painstaking and time-consuming. Not to mention being inaccurate. Particularly, it was impossible to accurately check the in & out history of the items with high turnover rates on Excel. After a long speculation and vetting process, the company decided to adopt a new platform for inventory management.

Usually, aircraft part IDs are the combination of alphabets and numbers, so it gets very confusing to identify all different parts just by looking at IDs. Using the photo registration feature, we can immediately identify and find a part needed without wasting time.

Aircraft parts are mostly being used on the maintenance site. With that said, we need to locate them as quickly as possible when servicing. BoxHero’s barcode scanning feature is a great addition because we can easily find the parts with our mobile phones.‎

Q. What is the ratio of web to mobile app use?

A. The app is mainly used for the purpose of locating necessary products. On PC, we usually check the in & out history and do inventory audits. I would say the ratio is 30 % on the app and 70% on the web usage.
